Peter Doig, Pelican (Stag) (2003)
Peter Doig's large scale paintings are often quite mysterious (or perhaps enigmatic), and this one is no exception. Its almost as if we have caught fleeting sight of the subject as we have turned from a path through a tropical rain forrest. What I like about this is exactly this feeling of transience & serendipity; what's going on, not sure. I also love the interplay of abstract(ish) colours & figuration.
