when i explain to people in real life that mastodon isn't about virality or engagement, just vibes and scrolling through pleasant stuff and missing stuff sometimes, they look at me like i must be doing it wrong instead of like i'm doodling in a journal with my friends

@bobthomson70 @magicalgirlsabrina It definitely helps having known #Usenet e.g., where you had to built your own feed - just like on the #Fediverse.
@virbonus @magicalgirlsabrina I think that just looking at posts which were not mediated by an algorithm is a hard thing to grasp for many who've not experienced that. I suppose, only older folk now get what browsing a newspaper or magazine is/was like even ffs :(
