im raven, i live in pdx (Portland, Oregon)
i have so many interests in life and thus i find myself delving into all sorts of topics
i work full-time as a nurse in the operating room (perioperative RN); i have my BSN and CNOR; i previously worked in the PACU (recovery room nurse) and preoperative environment (i would be the one who starts the IV); and got my start in 2016 on the floor in a step-down-ICU (was called PCU or the progressive care unit); none of my posts or views expressed here are representative of my employers or associations and groups of which i am apart.
im a photographer: i shoot with a FUJIFILM X-T4, a mirrorless digital camera; i have shot a few engagements and one wedding but prefer to shoot more candid portraits; im more known for my dreamy landscape shots (i want my end result to look like it is from Lord of the Rings); all of my photography is dedicated to the creative commons under an Attribution license (CC-BY 4.0) and can therefore be used for practically any reason as i believe art belongs to us all (AI does not make art!!); none of my work uses AI because i hate AI and think it's trash. in the past i have done lots of wheel-thrown ceramic art and i plan to start that again sometime in the next year or 2; i have also done a lot of music related things and played trombone for 10 years; now i am learning guitar.
i have used linux since 2013, starting with Debian Wheezy and later on was running Debian Sid and switched to Fedora in 2019; switched to Arch for a bit in 2026 and now run Gentoo on both my laptop and my server; Gentoo is awesome and it's teaching me a lot! i plan to learn how to program in C and Python and want to to contribute code to bigger open-source, AI-free projects.
im trans/transfem/transgirl/transwoman; being trans is awesome and im so happy to be who i am today; i am a puppygirl; my personality is described as "puppy-coded" and i have a collar and am chipped in my left hand (Dangerous Things NExT v2); i love being silly and goofy and have been described as "a big floofy golden retriever"; i will bark on the timeline (wruff!).
if i have to label my approach to relationships, i would use the phrase "relationship anarchist" to describe what i mean: i have friendships, some of which are platonic, others of which are decidedly, not; the label "lesbian" describes me pretty dang well and i have been called "extremely gay"; i do not understand monogamy or traditional romantic relationships (even having been married in the past for 13 years); i no longer identify as polyamorous because i think it perpetuates a traditional approach to relationships which i aim to avoid; each relationship is unique and has it's own dynamics and i love this!
i have been vegan since November of 2017 and will always be an advocate for non-human animals; go watch the Dominion documentary to understand how the animal industries are just an extension of exploitative capitalism and how awful we have collectively decided to treat those we deem lesser.
i identify as a leftist and am proudly a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA); i adore anarchist philosophy and the dissolution of hierarchical ways of being in society; we all deserve free healthcare, housing, food, water, etc., no ifs ands or buts.
With the climate emergency, studies estimate that half of the current world population will be dead in the next 25 years and so i practice a collapse-aware politic: we need to build skills, community, social capital, and mutual aid networks to be there for each other through collapse; not only do we need those things, we need to be able to practice being in the present moment and enjoy what we have now: we only live once and my goals are to bring joy and whimsy to the forefront, leave the world a better place than i found it, and love the people in my life for as long as, and as best as i can; my friend taught me the phrase "you can do anything" and i really take this to heart nowadays as i used to be scared and anxious about much, but with the understanding that, no matter what happens, the world will end and humanity will eventually go extinct, we owe it to ourselves to be proudly who we are, to love each other well, and to care for others as best we can while we are here; we have the power through solidarity and intersectionality to make this world a better place and i sincerely believe that labor empowers us if we stand together.
i am a union steward and am on the statewide labor-cabinet at the Oregon Nurses Association; i am a member of the Caucus for Powerful Reform (CPR) and believe strongly that our union deserves democracy, transparency and solidarity; i believe in a member-led union, not a service-model.
i love outdoor sports and although i am still in recovery from an MPFL repair to my knee in January of 2026, i intend to rock climb, ski, kayak, hike, backpack, sail and run; i believe that fitness is important and healthy for humans and that being outside is very very good for us! i plan to post more content here when i go on outdoor trips in the future.
i am an atheist and also have sat numerous retreats at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, including a month-long silent retreat; much solace can be found in the practices of mindfulness and loving-kindness; may you be happy! may you be well!
although i currently don't own a car, i plan to get a motorcycle soon (tm) and already am accumulating gear for it; my bicycle is currently my vehicle of choice, and as a Portlander, i am really really annoyed that Trimet has cut so much service; we need excellent public transit here, and as much as our bicycle infrastructure was lauded 30 years ago, we have much catching up to do to make this city (and Oregon as a whole) more friendly to car-free folk.
i am known to be extremely silly, and goofy and i take pride in that; we need more whimsy and gayness in the world!
i do post some nsfw/lewd/18+/whatever-we-want-to-call-it here and i make sure all my stuff is content-warned (CW'ed); im a very sex-positive person and believe that demonstrating sex-positivity and being very public about it is essential to destigmatize ourselves from patriarchal and oppressive cultural influences; please mind the content warnings!
