I think the contribution that journals can make toward this goal is to mandate deposition of datasets into public databases. But these need to already exist. So first, your field needs to recognize and address the need for standard databases.

I can't imagine what it is like working in a field that doesn't have such databases... 😱
I would be so lost without Uniprot, the PDB, EMDB and EMPIAR that are standard in #StructuralBiology #CryoEM
