There’s an AI “meeting transcription and summary tool” for video meetings at my workplace that comes with a disclaimer that it should not be used if anyone does not consent.
I never consent.
Last time I said I didn’t want to use the tool in a meeting with a group of people I’m new to meeting, the meeting organizer asked “may I know why?” and I responded “Because I don’t consent,” and gave a blank stare. The organizer was visibly annoyed.
This is a pattern with all these AI tools. Non-consent is perceived as an annoyance. The people refusing to use AI are perceived as the problem, not the AI tool. Consent is an inconvenience, not a right to be respected.
