neko atsume 2 introduced a mechanic where some toys wear out and need to be repaired or replaced, which is mildly annoying in the "this product you used to be able to buy outright is now a subscription service" kind of way, but true to the "ok I'm back, what did you little shits break this time" aspect of cat ownership
