Recently, one of my Black trans friends shared with me that immigration is at the final step of approving their application for permanent residency. They have not been given a timeline, but things seem promising given that they were asked to do biometrics today.

In total, the cost of permanent residency is 2,000 USD. They are asking for 2,100 USD to cover permanent residency, any transportation they might have to do (such as going to the capital to pick up the permanent residency card) along with covering any loss from paypal or ATM fees.

As immigration has given them no timeline, there is technically no timeline for this request. However, let's aim to have this filled before February of next year as HR will force him to go through getting a work permit and make him front the cost of the work permit (1500 USD. Yes, the yearly work permit costs almost as much as the permanent residency).

This should be the last mutual aid for them as their full time position is enough to cover their daily living expenses.
