This would be the first time I do not follow poll results. Google is simply not made for people like me.

I am a solo dev, and exposing myself is not a good solution. Why should I have to make a personal address and phone number public? I sell nothing.

I am very uncomfortable with this, and I should not have to expose myself.

I only keep my Google dev account for #Fedilab.
You can also get it through #FDroid or the APKs I publish.
If you use https://fdroid.fedilab.app you get updates immediately.

Should I keep publishing Google releases?

@apps Don't publish to Google if it puts you at risk. Of course as a dev you want to reach as many people as possible but frankly Google new decision is bullshit. Users who enjoy your app will find a way to install it (I think they can wait 24hrs for sideloaded apps on stock Android). Being on Google Play just isn't worth it anymore.

@alexchapman @apps How do you get burner ID without committing identify fraud? Not every country allows you get a mobile number without ID. I also believe Google will also require ID for developers to publish once all of this gets finalised.

Additionally you need a residential/legally registered business address and not a PO Box to sign up for a developer account.

@alexchapman @apps No shit Sherlock, that was obvious. To use a burner phone, you need a number and if you go and re-read my comment, two out of the three pointers I gave you with explain why this isn't an option
