There are a lot of more modern jazz vocalists that I like.

But I will say this, they tend to be too respectful of the OG.

The Great American Songbook is a fine thing, standards deserve honor. But they also deserve a little spit and a little crazy. Jazz players & singers have *always* brought spit and crazy. That's where the standards come from.

And they deserve *additions*. There are empty pages at the end of that songbook, and we need to fill them.
