@randahl The Wendat people (which were referred by the early French settlers as "Hurons") were there long before that there was a country called the United States of America. Another thing is that "America" is a continent, not a country, so calling it "Lake of [a continent]" just sounds stupid.

@randahl The only Great Lake with a name that isn't of Indigenous origin is Lake Superior, which would otherwise be named Gitchi-Gami (there's a trail named as such).
