And apparently, the "fine, I'll build my own WhatsApp" movement is not limited to PyQt6. We've got not one, but two more projects taking the Rust route: whatRust and whatsapp-rust. Because seemingly wrapping WhatsApp Web wasn't enough. Now we need to rebuild the whole thing in Rust too. When users start saying "fine, I'll write my own" in two or three different programming languages, maybe it's time to take the hint. https://github.com/karem505/whatRust https://github.com/oxidezap/whatsapp-rust
Apparently, people have become so thoroughly fed up with WhatsApp Desktop and WhatsApp Web that they've reached the "fine, I'll build my own WhatsApp" stage. ZapZap is one of those attempts, built with PyQt6 and QtWebEngine to turn WhatsApp Web into a more proper desktop experience, with things like multiple accounts, native notifications, system tray integration, and more. I haven't tested its accessibility yet, so that's a completely separate adventure.
