I picked up this twig with a mushroom growing on it today, and some guy coming along the trail said, "That is awesome! Is there a smaller one next to it, too?" I looked closer and saw the smaller one. I hadn't noticed it in my own hand, and this guy had spotted it from 3-4 meters away. He must be a good hiking companion. Second photo for scale with a bit of my finger.

A twig held up in the sunshine, with a small mushroom and a minuscule mushroom growing on the side. They have narrow stems and wide thin caps, brown on top and beige on the underside.

The same mushrooms zoomed out, this time with a bit of my finger showing. The bigger mushroom is less than half my fingertip. The smaller one must be about 1-2 mm wide.

I saw this glorious stump with some nice mushrooms growing out of the side, maybe dryad's saddles? So I climbed on it for a photo and realized there was even more! My first dead man's fungus!

Looking down at my feet standing on a big tree stump. There are some beige mushrooms growing off the sides to the left and right. And straight in front of my feet, huge clusters of black mushrooms. Below the trunk is various green forest undergrowth.

A view of those black mushrooms, from the side. They're called dead man's fungus because they look kinda like black rotting fingers growing out of the stump.
