Hey, #FountainPen folks of fedi. I've had the idea to get someone a purple pen of some kind for a birthday in about a month. I don't know if I do or don't want a fountain pen specifically (and I barely do any handwriting myself these days, I've never bought anything other than cheap supermarket pens), but what terms should I be searching for / reading up on to start learning and making a decision?

@timixretroplays all good recommendations in here already. TWSBI Eco are my choice, and I’m pretty sure the Jelly Purple colour is what you’re after. Probably go with a fine nib, EF are pretty temperamental with ink choice and clog easily especially if you’re not using them daily.
BUT
Choice of paper also matters! Get them a notebook to go with the pen, my wife loves the Coffeenotes notebooks and has filled an entire A5 with workday notes in less than 6 months.
