A scene from the Bayeux Tapestry, also known as the Tapestry of Queen Matilda, and formerly as the “Telle du Conquest” (meaning “Canvas of the Conquest”), is an 11th-century embroidery that has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register since 2007. This is a section of the famous Bayeux Tapestry (Scenes 27-28), depicting King Edward the Confessor on his deathbed. The Latin inscription reads that King Edward, lying in bed, speaks to his faithful followers, and then shows his death and preparation of his body for burial.
