Just picked up milk and noticed the label says "100% milk from real cows". This wasn't something I was worried about before now.
@mattblaze 100% climate damage and animal exploitation didn't go so well in the focus group stage.
@Niall your superior moral choices are duly noted.
@mattblaze excellent. My halo is away being cleaned this week, I was worried no one would notice me.
@mattblaze Semi-seriously, the dairy industry has many times in many jurisdictions tried to reserve the word "milk" to themselves, preventing people from using terms like "almond milk" etc, with limited success. This just seems like they've given up on the lawsuits and are going with snark/passive aggression.
@mattblaze Gotta watch out for AI cows generating AI milk 😄 :-)
@mattblaze same thought comes to mind with Lays "made with real potatoes" potato chips.
@mattblaze “My ‘not involved in human trafficking’ shirt is raising a lot of questions already answered by my shirt.”
@mattblaze Do you know how much work it is milking imaginary cows? And their milk doesn;t taste very good either.
First there was whale milking in "The Deep Range".
Now:
https://www.deepseadairy.com/process.html
"only the healthiest and heartiest whales are selected for milking.
We're guided by our ethics. We never use hormones to promote milk letdown.
Milking takes place in the shallow warm lagoons of the Sea of Cortez. Our trained divers ensure the process smooth, efficient and stress-free for the whales. It's essential that we leave behind enough milk for the mothers' calves…"
@mattblaze milk from AI cows tastes like shit.
@mattblaze Is that Lactaid? I seem to remember something like that on their label. It was the only milk I could handle, back when I used to drink the stuff. Nowadays, I buy the little bottle of whatever, just to make eggs fluffy.
@mattblaze a few friends and I visited the Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont in 2024. You watch a promo vid before the tour where you are specifically reassured that Ben and Jerry are "two real guys".
As we're not Americans, this caused frantic google verification to see that they were actually real.
@mattblaze
Made with 'real fruit' also gets me like that too
