Several Black Skimmers (black on top and head, white cave, throat and underneath, large bill with a longer lower mandible that is orange at the base and black at the tip; one juvenile that has mottled plumage and a much paler bill) are laid out on the pale sand at the edge of a small sand dune. Two adult birds are prominent in the center, the one on the left has its bill open.
