I suppose I should watch a film with crysknives in it.
Yeah… this is how we roll in the year 10191.
I am unironically a fan of Dune 1984.
A lot of the cast here are incredible.
However, one casting decision the new series does better is Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. Richard Jordan is a bit of a nothing.
@troberts there's like three versions, so it's hard to say what Dune you're a fan of.
I enjoyed the theatrical release, and the David Lynch director's cut. But there's an extended edition, for Americans, that explains everything, and the voice over is all folksy, that Lynch removed his name from.
That one is poo
@sortius I'm watching the theatrical version I think.
I pretty much have always enjoyed it.
@troberts yeh, theatrical is almost identical to the director's cut. A few bits extra, but not more. As long as there's not some yokel doing the voice over, you know it's legit
@sortius @troberts there's also the spicediver fanedit which gained a certain popularity https://ifdb.fanedit.org/dune-1984-the-alternative-edition-redux-special-1080p-edition/
Most of the extra length comes from scenes with the Fremen that end up making it feel more coherent, and it cuts the rain at the end
@gabrielesvelto @troberts it's definitely a broken movie. Good to see fans try to fix it. Again, hollywood fucked it, even with the Lynch cut.
They just made it worse with the "American" edit
