@ascentale @bikenite A8: I can’t figure out a good way to summarize the week. I didn’t know I was capable of riding 400 miles in 8 days without a recovery day built in. I wasn’t even sore at the end! Cycle the Erie Canal is amazingly well organized, other riders said it was practically the gold standard compared to most other tours of that kind.

I chose to rent both a tent and a bike—all I had to do was pedal, a smart choice for me. Read the alt-text about the photo inside the Y. #bikenite

my rented bike in front of my rented tent, against a sea of other rented tents. There were about 500 people on the Cycle the Erie Canal ride—every day a village was put up, then taken down and moved the next day. Impressive as hell, though vaguely military, or like a refugee camp. Hm.

the morning we left Rome, NY, breakfast was served in the local YMCA. We had to ride .7 mile to get there (after packing up our gear), and it was quite chilly that morning. We just wanted coffee and good food at 6am, but the lights were very bright (!) and they were blasting the song, “YMCA!” and it made my head hurt at that hour. But it was temporary….

@ascentale @bikenite #BikeNite A8. The library had a smartphone photography workshop last night, and it had cooled down enough that I biked there. As long as we were walking around taking pictures, I snapped a pic of my errand-running bike.

@ascentale @bikenite A8. Someone brought this trailer to the last kidical mass. It’s used to block off the cross streets. The structure was finished just in time. The welds were still hot.
