I wonder what’s going on in tech bros like DHH who are literally millionaires and live some sort of jet-set life (think race car driving, houses in multiple countries) that they turn complete Nazi and blame brown people for [not sure what] and call for a ethnic cleansing of Europe.

@thomasfuchs they've figured out that this is how they protect their wealth. Racism is both directly extractive, and keeps people divided so they don't rise up (and, e.g., tax wealth).

@aral @thomasfuchs I think you can be forgiven for this. Or at least I hope you can. I know the last 5-6 years I have realized a lot of people I formerly would have supported, or at least put up with, turned out to be people I never should have been in community with to start.
@thomasfuchs My guess is that they take extreme anti-aging treatments (because they don’t want to die and let go of their wealth) that are messing with their mind, like testosterone and other hormones.

Also, there are mental issues that affect the prefrontal cortex turn folks towards paranoia, conspiracy theories (including aliens) and racisms.
But I don't think is that case for him.
@luislavena Fwiw I knew him personally like twenty years ago and he was definitely not like that, even championed for inclusivity etc.
Perhaps, at some point, maintaining the lifestyle that wealth provides becomes their primary motivator as they begin to believe that they deserve to have more while others have less. I can't imagine what having that kind of wealth would do to my personality.
@thomasfuchs it is not so difficult to understand why very wealthy people would rather blame Others for societal difficulties, and support political entrepreneurs defending these ideas, than wealth inequality...
