Ordinarily my #actuallyautistic coping strategies work well. I have a life which avoids crowds, perfume, loud noises, most street food, and many other stimuli which could incapacitate me. This week, however, the next door folk are having insulating cladding installed. There are extremely loud drilling sounds and vibrations that I cannot escape from 08:00 onwards, even today, a Saturday. I am wearing industrial ear defenders in my own house, my balance has gone and I'm staggering around, I am nauseated and can't eat.
So I took the dogs out for a long walk up the river and back through the parks. There was an emergency vehicle going past and I bent over to cover my ears and wretch if I needed to, but then we made it to the riverside path. It was peaceful for the first few kilometres up the river. No helicopters overhead, thankfully.
