It's amazing how #birds can sing in a frequency spectrum "hole" where regular tree leave shimmer is not present. Here you can see wind blowing in forest trees + some road noise (cars), a big empty black band where a robin is boradcasting it's music, and then crickets above it. #Nature is incredible!

@unfa this is really intriguing. So you’re saying they specifically target frequencies where there will be less interference? For more effective communication?
@markwyner @unfa I'm totally theorizing, but it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. Birds with calls that line up with an open frequency band will have more success finding mates and passing on their genes.
Right. I also have no formal or objective perspectives on this. But I think about the “On the Origin of Species” and this frequency thing makes perfect sense.
