Europe’s nature is rich, beautiful – and often a pretty good business deal, too.
For decades, the EU has been investing into natural solutions all around our continent. When nature bounces back, it can all these things for free:
🌊 Protect against floods and erosion
🥵 Cool down our cities
🌳 Clean our water and air
🌍 Store carbon to limit climate change
🐝 Pollinate crops
And sometimes, what you need most…
🌄 Give us a place to rest, recharge and wonder
Down south most such places are now burning, largely out of multi-year neglect coupled with urban intrusion into unmanaged forests.
Specific action, guidance, enforcement, and support are needed *now*.

I am blessed to be able live in one! Land and part of the sea are protected natural parks.
A tiny island, no mass tourism (as in only few -and those are by law very small - hotels and apartments) an airstrip too short for the bigger, 737 alike, airplanes hence no direct flights
, close to 100% self-sufficient in energy... A lttle (but also a 'you hate it or you love it') paradise!
Only downside: only natural water resource is the winter rains. So unfortunately we need desalinating ocean water to keep crops alive and growing during the long, hot summers.
@EUCommission We have a big project going on here, renaturating the local rivers and lakes along Aller, Ohre and Ise, which is at least co-financed by the EU, but also the state of lower saxony, smaller actors in the KLARA alliance and Volkswagen AG.
It also has the side effect of my parents now watching beavers build their projects in the river next to their garden.
