I read very interesting article about securing servers from #ddos attacks and #ai bots scraping at https://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/blocking-botnets-with-reaction. Admins uses fail2ban, UFW and reaction to mitigate them. Based on that I have a question to people who have #selfhosted #NextCloud and/or just run a #Homelab : how do you secure your servers?
@krystian_kulesz I'm not sure I'll ever have any public services but I do have remote access, and can provide logins with access to one or more services for others.
That's simple to do using #Pangolin running on a cheap VPS. I have a single login and access to my network via a #Wiregaurd tunnel which avoids issues with #CGNAT & DNS.
With this setup there's no issue unless I want to self host a public website or similar. But why do that? I'm not sure it's useful for most #HomeLab'ers.
