This morning, I decided to head out in search of wild koalas, since my neighbour had given me a hot tip for some at Lawnton.

My first stop though, was at Bullocky Rest, as there were recent sightings.

I wandered up and down the peninsula looking at trees, not spotting any, until I stopped to check my phone at the base of a tree, then noticed there was fresh scat on the ground, looked up, and there was one with joey. I found four more at Lawnton.

Large female Koala with Joey tucked in close, asleep in a tree. Her fur is a very similar colour to the tree bark (light grey) making her hard to spot for the casual observer.

A koala all curled up in the fork of a tree in the distance, very much asleep.
