Q1: Hi all, what have you been making this week? #MakersHour
@MakersHour
A1 this week I've been working on some electronics for my balcony solar power setup, as well as doing CAD and 3d printing for some stuff to improve my hardware organisation. Nothing ground breaking, just small incremental works.
@quixoticgeek
Balcony solar is a great idea.
We're hoping to get our panels back up when we have moved.
@MakersHour #MakersHour A1: hi! I've mostly been working on the Wedding Sweater, but yesterday I also cast on a Christmas hat for my father-in-law. Because why not get the Christmas knitting over with.
@WizardOfDocs
Good plan, start Christmas early and get it out of the way!
@MakersHour exactly. I don't love Christmas; I came to it as an adult and I'm still processing how seriously my in-laws take gift-giving.
I've also promised them a sweater for their dog. That might be my next project. Fortunately, he's small and I haven't told them when.
@WizardOfDocs
Serious gift giving is hard work and costly (in time and money). We have taken to reducing it down as much as possible and rarely do gifts for each other unless it is specially requested.
@MakersHour @WizardOfDocs I've stopped for certain people who are convinced that I could make money with my making and yet rarely value made gifts... It doesn't quite add up
@Indigoatcrafts @MakersHour good. Don't waste your energy on people who don't deserve it.
@WizardOfDocs @MakersHour it's wasted energy and truthfully, it makes me sad
@WizardOfDocs @MakersHour hugely impressed. I should probably start the Pokémon hats I was going to make for the urchins... Last Christmas!🤭
