3 things strike me about this list:

1/ the early start. Murrell was on the fiddle as early as 2010.

2/ the sheer length of the list. There's a huge number of individual transactions.

3/ the number of very extravagant domestic purchases. Why wasn't Sturgeon suspicious?

This isn't the end of debate.

@2legged The convenient timing of releases is what gets me more than anything. Scots getting uppity and looking for independence…… drag out a financial scandal to knock that on the head. I’m sure a forensic accountant had all this information years ago, but sat on it to get rid of Nichola Sturgeon first, and reduce the SNP. Now they are doing it again. Her ex-husband was on a good salary, as well as being in charge of the SNP finances. Why would she suspect him when she had a time consuming job?

@HarriettMB @2legged it doesn't take a forensic accountant to look at the SNP's accounts 7 years ago and ask "Where did all the money ringfenced for the referendum campaigns go?".

Sturgeon, Beattie, et al, are either complicit, or incompetent. Neither of those is a good look.

Because Murrell pled guilty none of them will ever be cross examined in public as to what they knew, when. But he only pled to 400K, when almost 700K is missing from the accounts.

@HarriettMB @2legged And part of her "time consuming job" was being his boss. That's why she's culpable, not because she is (still) married to him.

@nikclayton to my mind, there are two unexplained issues:

1/ why didn't Sturgeon question at least the two big-ticket items, the Jag and the motorhome? Total cost over £200k on rapidly depreciating assets. This was a big dent in family capital.

2/ why did Sturgeon and allies block greater scrutiny of party finances in 2020/1?

Conspiracy theorists hsve leasped to concludions, with inadequate evidence. But questions need answers.
