Last night, the weather news forecasted that temperatures in England could in the coming days get close to the May record set in 1952.
It’s weird to be in a context where temperatures can over the course of several days more than double (numerically) on where they have been for weeks – 14°C => 31°C – but also not reach a record set 74 years ago, 36 years before we officially warned ourselves of global heating.
It highlights how confounding what we are doing is
