Over on the disinformation platform, its owner Elon Musk claims “Hitler was a socialist, therefore all socialists are Hitler”.
This post got 111 million views and apart from his claim being factually incorrect, it also shows that politicians of the remaining free countries should not support his social medium by posting there, because it is not about promoting free and informed dialogue — it is about spreading false myths using an algorithm design by Elon Musk to benefit Elon Musk.

@randahl Hitler was a socialist, social media is also socialist (it’s literally in the name)therefore since Musk is head of a social media means he is also a socialist and therefore also Hitler.

"Socialism" aims to abolish class structures and redistribute wealth to the working class. It emphasizes internationalism—the idea that workers of all nations share the same interests. Hitler was far from socialist.
Hitler's "National Socialism" built upon nationalist ideas and added authoritarian and racist elements to them. It emphasized national unity and ethnic/racial identity over class identity.

@randahl We have no way of knowing that the post "got 111 million views". All we know is that the service owned by Musk says that it "got 111 million views". The platform is not a neutral party, don't treat it as one.

Maybe a dedicated national break day from corporate platforms? Don't visit the site for 24 hours, try out Bluesky/fediverse instead. Just for a day.
Might be an easier sell, with the hope that maybe at least some of them stick around longer, or at least start to split their time more until they fully switch?

@silkester Well I, a fediverse user, am addressing another fediverse user, asking them their thoughts on addressing users on other platforms in a specific way.
I myself am not, right now, trying to address them yet, just thinking out loud before doing the actual addressing.

Also, there is https://www.blackskyweb.xyz, which is now fully independent from Bluesky, and opening up their infrastructure to other communities.

All these so-called Western politicians could have foreseen this in 2022 (about four years ago) when Musk was buying Twitter. It is the "free market" Neo-liberalism virus that these politicians still want to embrace. And here we are. Countless people hooked on the addictive social media apps where extreme right violence is multiplying at a scary velocity. All in the name of democracy and freedom. Should politicians corrupted by lobbyists and with lies normalized still be called politicians ? Why not call them business men ?
In the Netherlands all inhabitants will be required to pay Freedom Tax (to buy weapons and sponsor the military) next year. I wonder what George Orwell would have thought about such a name ? /s
