@Em0nM4stodon All the engineers working hard in silence to make the transition to renewable energy real.

@Em0nM4stodon Lots of things, but one of the main ones I keep coming back to is from William S Burroughs' "Apocalypse."
In particular, the bit "Not to be interpreted as an invitation to all manner of unrestrained(*) and destructive behavior; that would be a minor episode, which would run its course."
Everything is permitted because nothing is true. In one sense, we are here, in a post-truth world. This gives license to the very worst bullshitters and others that use their wealth and power to bend reality to their will. But those people need people below them to be their instruments of control. But if anything is permitted, that means that normal folk that don't lust after money or power or whatever can still assert their version of reality. And they can do it without convincing other people of some bullshit. So, for example, even though "AI" is currently a great force multiplier for the greediest and most powerful players, there'll still be a Luddite class who just quietly and calmly call "bullshit" when they see it.
That whole work (Apocalypse) is just sheer brilliance, in my opinion. Full text here:

[* edit: pretty sure this should read "unrestrained" so I've changed it]
@Em0nM4stodon Getting my hands dirty at Repair Cafe!
@Em0nM4stodon - Working with neighbors locally. That let's me know others care and are active in improving my town.
And my personal religious practices and music practices. Having guiding principals helps me move forward, even in difficult times, and having music let's me create beautiful moments even now.
@Em0nM4stodon the blooms of the flowers and the fresh berries and stone fruit 🍑
@Em0nM4stodon Everything changes. It's just a matter of time. And every action ripples through the bigger picture we are all part of, for better or worse.
"All that you touch you change. All that you change changes you. The only lasting truth is change" - Octavia E. Butler.
Never give up hope.
@Em0nM4stodon Everything seems to happen in cycles. Things go down, they come back up. Things change, sometimes they are worse, then later they get better. The thing that gives me hope is that they will come back up and get better. Historically this pattern takes years, however we are just about due for that shift.
That is what gives me hope.

My daughter. She is 7
I'm going through a stupid divorce.
Her mom (German) has untreated mental health issues.
I (American/Swedish) have moved to Portugal, for reasons.
My daughter is in the Netherlands, and the chance of me having custody, seems slim.
My daughter was here with me for two weeks, she touches the hearts of everyone she meets, they remember me and her when she is not here.
Watching her gives me hope
@Em0nM4stodon Nature. The fact that we are all stardust. Friendly, helpful people, local community building. A shift to renewables. More independency from the US. Nature. And the fact that all the old men who want to destroy the world, are *very* mortal. A global movement to tax billionaires. The idea, what a wonderful world we could have by financing peace, health, and life - not death cults and war. Nature. Talking to insects, not LLMs.
@Em0nM4stodon today’s empires are tomorrows ashes
@Em0nM4stodon I can see change happening with every seed potato and pack of food seeds given away
