Hey #WhatsApp friends.
Is there a way to make a "Broadcast Group" on WhatsApp?
That is, I want to send a message to a group of people. I don't want them to be able to reply in-group. I'd rather they didn't see the names / numbers of other group members.
Can that be done?
(I'm not interested in your opinions about why you don't like WhatsApp.)

@Edent I believe you can do this for one-offs: New chat > New broadcast, select people, it will send individual messages to each of them independently. But I don't think you can preserve this as a group to re-use, and the recipients need to have you as a contact.
@illicitonion ah! That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks 😄
@Edent with a normal group chat you can make sending messages admin-only, but members will be able to see each others names and phone numbers.
There are “channels” which are usually used by businesses. They are public, anyone can join and see the last month’s messages.
There’s also communities but I’m not sure that helps with what you want.
@Edent it definitely exists as Sheffield City council had exactly this for the local election results last week
@Edent not for personal accounts, even when set up as a community you can always see who else is in the group. It may be different for business accounts, though.
