@stefan This is so good and totally my speed.
Can you talk about the process?
@colorblindcowboy Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it!
And sure, thank you for asking!
I used a virtual piano for the main piano tune (which is in C Mixolydian), specifically it was https://www.spitfireaudio.com/en-us/products/originals-cinematic-soft-piano.
The sound clips (the voice recording and the beeping) come from https://www.nasa.gov/historical-sounds/.
The actual recording says "computers now have primary control of critical vehicle functions", so I edited this down to a more menacing social commentary.
And applied heavy processing + effects for the atmosphere.
If you're interested, you might enjoy the rest of the playlist!

@stefan Thank you, I will. I’m a sucker for spare or minimalist instrumentals over sound samples. They just make a lot of sense to my brain.
Anyway. I really do enjoy this. Will do the whole list now.
@colorblindcowboy Thank you, hope you'll find more tracks to enjoy!
@stefan If I could afford it, I’d comissiom you to do soundtrack my book trailer.
@colorblindcowboy We might be able to work something out! Let me reach out privately.
One approach that works well for these atmospheric pieces is layering in subtle found sounds or field recordings to give them more texture and place them in a specific world.
The piano melody has this nice tension that would work great in a thriller or sci-fi context. Speaking of AI and music, I actually built an app that does the opposite - takes photos of everyday objects and turns them into songs across different genres.
