🛟 LIFE SAVING SURGERY FOR A KITTEN
The cat is alive and recovering! All that remains is to pay the expensive bills.
Update: the vets confirmed an intestinal blockage. Something is stuck between Szczur’s stomach and intestines, which means he can neither pass anything nor properly digest food. Surgery is needed.
He now urgently needs this. The situation is even more complicated because Szczur is extremely small for his age – he is around 8 months old, but has weighed only 2.5 kg for over half a year and never properly grew, which may increase the surgical risks and complications.
The ASAP surgery and hospitalization costs were estimated at nearly the equivalent of my full monthly salary from a full time job, and that’s before medication, follow-up, or additional treatment. The surgeon also has to come in outside regular working hours, which adds even more.
I genuinely do not have this kind of money anymore, and at the same time I still need to survive, pay bills, and live somehow. But he is just a tiny shelter kitten who deserves a chance to live and grow up.

I have adopted Szczur in December. He’s not even 10 months old yet. Today (May 9), he has already vomited 6 times, is lethargic, won’t eat, and has been having tremors.
Our first emergency vet visit included blood tests, an ultrasound, IV fluids, and anti-nausea medication, but the cause is still unclear. The vet suspects gastritis, but they also can’t rule out a foreign object that may require surgery.
Tomorrow we need to return for another ultrasound, and there will be more follow-up visits next week. How many, IDK.
Today’s visit alone cost 390 PLN, about a quarter of all the money I have left until my next paycheck, including what I still need for food and bills. Money has already been very tight for me lately, and while I want to do everything possible to help him, I also can’t afford to spend every last cent I have on treatment and risk not being able to cover basic living costs for us.
I’m asking for help because I don’t want to have to choose between treating my cat and paying for necessities.
I’m also uncertain whether my work contract will be extended next month, which makes the situation even more treacherous.
Any help means a lot. Any extra funds will be saved for future emergencies like this one.
