Find Out Social - New User Tips
First things first. @findout.media is now a Mastodon/Fediverse server and you are part of a huge network of connected servers. Cool right!?
Think about it like email. You can interact with anyone on the Fediverse from your account on @findout.media, but you need to address them. There is NO ALGORITHM. No billionaire is going to just push stuff at you. We like it that way.

Because there is no algorithm you need to Follow other accounts to see what they are posting. Putting some effort into following people you like will pay big dividends.
So first, follow a few other findout.social accounts like @OfKittensAndRavens @Nola_Haynes @TimFullerton @timjchambers and @angrymalevet. You can see a running stream of local posts here https://findout.media/public/local to find others.
Now you should soon see their posts in your Home timeline.

OK, now for the Fediverse. Since you seem into politics, here are a few active US Politics accounts on the Fedi: @KimPerales @wdlindsy @servelan @Nonilex @gleick @newsguyusa
Of course there are lots more. Clicking on #USPolitics will give you a stream of posts that use that hashtag. You can search other hashtags and regular terms using the search box in the upper right. You can also follow hashtags.
So now follow a few non Find Out accounts, and you are off and running.

@mastodonmigration "Click on #USPolitics" respectfully, is not as good as "Click on #politics or #USPolitics". Of those two, I only use #politics.

Don't be shy about boosting. Boosting is how we talk to each other. Again, because there is no algorithm, boosting is how information spreads. Liking is cool. It says thank you, but doesn't really do anything else. You can also Quote Post.
Here you can EDIT YOUR POSTS! Most of us can not imagine a world where you can not fix typos, improve wording or make clarifications. You will love it!

The Fedi has a reputation for Fedi-splaining. That's people telling you what to do & what not to do. Your server https://findout.media/about has a list of rules. THESE ARE THE ONLY RULES.
The Fedi is a nice place, but not perfect. If, for any reason, you don't want to engage with someone you can mute or block them. If they are breaking the rules of their server, you can report them. We find this works pretty well.
