@ChrisMayLA6 What amazes me is the UK's lack of an effective system for complaints and appeals that is independent of the ministries being complained or appealed against. Something like this should immediately be out of the hands of the Home Office.

What is also gobsmackingly bad in this case is that apparently nobody is even disputing for a moment whether the child actually has UK citizenship. The UK is constantly making fun of continental countries' bureaucracy, but you should show me another European country where the substance of a case involving an infant citizen would be sacrificed on the altar of formalities like this.
