@jalefkowit In some ways, this is a good thing, but they should ask for consent, like other products do for this sort of thing (i.e., JetBrains IDEs install a local model but they ask first), and they really should work on shrinking it down. Surely they can do much better than 4GB?

Solution, don't use Chrome.

Not running Chrome at all is an option for some. Another tool is the Chrome Enterprise Policy toolset—sysadmins can protect their desktop users from many Google shenanigans https://chromeenterprise.google/policies/#GenAILocalFoundationalModelSettings
