I find this timeline interesting:
Wednesday Trump had a 90 minute phone call with Putin. The call happened prior to Trump mentioning it to the press at a 14:00 press event.
Then at 17:48 Trump posts on Truth social that he is now studying the possible reduction of US troops in Germany.
Correlation is not causation, and Trump has talked about pulling away from Europe before. But it is worrying that Trump is talking to the enemy, and immediately thereafter wants to weaken our defences.
@randahl Thus military training last week in France, which is absolutely outrageous but clearly unavoidable in this context.
@randahl It would be worrying if Donnie had any influence on Putin's policies. Trump is just another one of Putin's puppets (laufbursche- GER). Donnie gets his coffee and kisses Putin's backside. Donnie is NOT a power player. He's a dupe.
@randahl Ah, but, given that we don't know for sure whose side the USA will be on if/when Russia expands its war in Europe, it's surely safer for the defence of Europe to get the US troops out.

@randahl Of course you could argue about whether removing US military assets from Europe constitutes a weakening or the opposite, in light of our fresh knowledge that American soldiers will absolutely obey orders from the MAGA regime to perform illegal military action, effectively putting them under Putin's command.
Personally I don't think we can trust US troops to be on our side at all & I'd rather not have them inside our borders, thank you very much.

@randahl The question is open, if reducing US troops in Germany will "weaken our defences". Reflecting the events of last 12 months, I am not so sure, if this is the case.
@randahl In the end this is what it means to be a sucker. Europe has been sucking up to the orange thinking he will reason. The reality as always with narcissist, is that they will throw suckers under the bus at first opportunity. He willl only sate his narcissism with the likes of Putin.
Europe should stop this behaviour and build its own defence against a possible russian invasion/attack as soon as time allows it.

@randahl In this case, I do think this is simply because Merz dissed Trump in an interview, you don't need Putin for Trump to throw random tantrums...
@randahl for Trump, Putin is not an enemy.
@randahl he can do that (in certain limits, I think) and apart of violating NATO agreements (which he may not understand or doesn't care is irrevalent) this also has an effect on american power projection elsewhere.
