Story about a hawk - conclusion. I was away giving science education workshops when the hawk chick actually fledged, but did manage to drive back for one last check before it left the area. The changes over those 22 days was nothing short of astonishing.
This hawk stayed in the area for a couple of years, and came back to the nesting site area. It always gave me a visceral thrill to recognize the bird. We all need to spend more time in boots in the field. Life has too much to offer to waste on fools.
