Barrier Canyon Style Fremont "ghost" panel. These nearly human sized pictographs are between 1500-4000 years old.

Of course, I'm not of the culture that produced this imagery, but I do wonder why they chose such an irregular surface for the images when nearby there were perfectly good flat surfaces?

(Note: I isolated the images using a parametric mask in the rgb primaries module in Darktable & upped the saturation of the red ochre pigment used.)

A very rough tan sandstone cliff surface with ancient red colored images of six human like creatures. None of them have arms. One has big eyes. Another has stripes for the body rather than a solid color. A couple have antenna like things sticking out of their heads. There's some squiggly lines and large dots as well.
