What should my next #nonfiction read be? I’m especially keen on sociology and espionage history.
There was a book by one of the OSS originals. He famously had a sign on his desk that said “Speak freely, I don’t want your job.”
“The Price of Admiralty” is an excellent history of the cost and purposes of a navy.
“The First War of Physics” is a great history of the WW2 race to build a bomb. (I don’t recall enough coverage of the Japanese program.)
I love spy books as well, just haven’t found enough.
@BenHM3 It was @mediapathic who recommended Book & Dagger to me recently. It’s one the best things I’ve read in ages. Highly recommended.
Oh! “Car Wars” is fascinating, especially when you see the context of the Toyota Prius.
@BenHM3 Excellent. Noted!
@mkb
I don't read much espionage stuff; The Mysterious Affair at Olivetti comes to mind
My interesteans more toward codes and ciphers, with the occasional spy book
@DelilahTech It’s a slippery slope. Reading about cryptography let to me reading about the history which led to reading about espionage history.
Save yourself! Get out while you still can!! 😃
