The US is entering the AI dystopia many have long feared, joining a number of countries already there. If the world really reduced to the US, China, and the EU, I'd be terrified now – what are the chances the EU alone could stay free? But China, Russia, and the US are less than half the world's GDP even by conventional measures https://lnkd.in/dkg4GSKq) , and if you believe the purchasing power parity (PPP) people, might be as little as 35% https://lnkd.in/dGbdzxCJ Obviously neither value is negligible, but that leaves a lot of the world's vast economy still there to innovate with. We all might still work towards human-centred concerns like justice, liberty, sustainability, and who knows, some of the US, China, and Russia may still join us if we can demonstrate strong, viable models. I'm fairly certain that, in the long term, governance approaches that let the greatest diversity of humans flourish will be the most successful. But we all need not only security, but also capacity for other great coordinated works in the short term too, as we face the climate challenges of our own making. | 12 comments on LinkedIn
