I though I'd died and gone to lock heaven 🥹
They also had a whole bin of vintage and antique mortise cylinders, many of which had keys. The goth/punk lady that worked there said, since I teach lockpicking (and gave her some practice tips), I could have 'em for $5/per 🫠
I left with 4 awesome new (old) locks 💝
Here are the four locks I took home with me:
I found a patent for improvements on the "Scandinavian Jail Lock" I bought. Mine seems to have the shackle lip, meaning it's likely from some time after 1871.
@alice I realize these aren't from a bridge or railing but I imagine you undoing one of those locks and hundreds of kilometers away a loving couple on a sidewalk drops each others' hands and they walk off in opposite directions without looking back
