Has anyone settled on a decent #Discord replacement?

#Zulip looks okay but I don't know that I'll be able to get anyone to join me there. Not sure about the mobile app...

Alternatively #Discourse is very expensive to have hosted. I don't mind paying some money, but $20/mo for the standard hosted plan is too much for me.
