Introducing my sister to Minecraft, cont'd: beyond the mountains from the last post, I glimpsed a Woodland Mansion. Sent her a screenshot asking, "Did you do some building when I was offline?" (She didn't buy it.)
We explored every room of the mansion and freed several allays (little blue glowing fairy-like creatures) imprisoned there, and emerged with inventories packed with loot. A river nearby led through a lovely taiga (with a village in it!) on the way back home.
Revelations from my sister:
- I told her she could tell the compass directions from (among other things) the sun. She said she didn't think the sun in Minecraft set in any particular direction. Note: it has visibly set in the same direction every day. (I do get her point though, there is no reason it should set in the west like on Earth)
- She informed me that many of the stones and minerals from Minecraft are actually from real life. Yes, I am absolutely looking forward to when she mistakenly assumes that some thing made up for Minecraft is real, or vice versa.
(For context, she is 2 years younger than I am and we are both in the 35-44 age bracket)
