#CrowUpdate So on Sunday, I went for a walk around the neighborhood to look for the crows and I finally found them. Both on the same pole at the northern limit of their territory. Both of them being on the same pole is not usual in the middle of the day (from what I could gather from the few times I saw them do it is that it's a "defensive" position).
When they saw me, Ms Crow followed me to the nearest open space (a small parking lot) for peanuts, but Mr Crow didn't move a bit. ⤵️

Now, the past few days start making more sense. After the big fight I witnessed last week (and more that I missed), Mr Crow has been injured again, and these past few days he was in hiding nursing his injuries (and Ms Crow was protecting him?)
However, this morning... ⤵️

This morning, when I returned home from bringing my son to school, Ms Crow was in her usual spot for her morning peanuts!!! Yeah!!! It's been a while.
I had to look more to find Mr Crow, but there he was in his tree. He doesn't usually spend time in trees in the morning, so I assume it's to protect himself. ⤵️

After some hesitation, Mr Crow came down from the tree, and I could see what I was expecting/fearing: his wings are even more damaged than they were before. And he doesn't seem to be able to fly much. This is concerning as nesting season is going to start soon. I know I always worry about them this time of the year, and so far, it turned out okay, but this year will be even tougher. ⤵️
Two years ago, when Mr Crow couldn't fly at all, they still had their nest from three years ago and it needed minimal repairs. This year, not only Mr Crow seem he'll have trouble flying again, but they have no nest, and worse, their two usual nest trees are unusable because they got "dismembered" by municipal employees (one will need one or two more years to grow enough branches, the other one even longer). And I'm not sure the third candidate has enough branches and foliage. ⤵️
And can Ms Crow build a nest by herself? With minimal help from Mr Crow? No idea. (I did my share, yesterday a wire coat hanger was on the ground in front of my house, no idea where it's from - we don't have any at home - but I grabbed it and put it on my balcony for the crows to use when they'll need it).
Apart from that, I guess they hadn't seen me much for a while, Ms Crow came very close to me today (probably the closest ever). The pic below was taken with my phone, not a DSLR! ⤵️
Usually, she never gets the peanuts I leave very close to me, but today she did. He took a couple of minutes and a few attempts, but I consider that as a win.

I went out for lunch. When I left home, both crows were in "their" tree, but were gone when I returned. While they're familiar with this tree (they use it to sleep when they're not roosting, I also think they used it for a nest before I befriended them) I also wonder if they're in the process of choosing a tree or a spot for the future nest. 🤔
Note that they didn't move when I offered peanuts.
