He walks. He talks. He sheds his skin like a rep… tile.

-31C with a howling wind late last week and a dead battery and low fuel meant three trips to the cabin that day. And my most extensive frostbite of the year. So now I’m peeling. #CabinLife

@NunavutBirder Oboy, I can feel this! I have not experienced the bitter cold of being outside in that kind of cold for many years but the sensation is still there. #CabinLife has its charms, this is not one of them!

@NunavutBirder The worst is when you thaw out.

@mike This is all superficial skin stuff. Not that painful. Bit of a burn for a couple days and then the itching.

But as I’ve gotten older my hands can’t stand the cold and if they get cold it is literally the worst pain I experience. I’m pretty pain tolerant but that is all I can handle.

@NunavutBirder

Oh no. I have never experienced this because in the city there's usually always somewhere to stand indoors. Pics?

I used to attend a school that was one of 3 in a row, and the teachers at Ainlay used to make us walk around to get to Xavier or Cartier. Ainlay was an immense sprawl, a huge detour from the bus stop in winter. But we wouldn't get frostbite.
