I’ve been tracking workouts on Strava for years. At some point, I wanted the data outside the app.

This article shows how to:
• ingest GPX from Apple Health / Strava
• store routes properly with PostGIS
• extract heart rate data
• render maps and server-side images
• all in a Quarkus-based Java backend

No dashboards. No vendor lock-in. Just data you own.
