After the recent Discord incident, I was thinking, why decentralised alternatives aren't more popular? What did Discord do that Matrix, for example, couldn't?

So what they really need is something like Jitsi Meet, Big Blue Button, Element Call, or MiroTalk, all of which AFAIK do both of those things. But they want that integrated into a text chat/ forum? There has been a Matrix widgets for Jitsi since Riot, I assume there's one for EC, and a BBB one is under development. I've seen posts today about using MiroTalk with Matrix, so probably that too.
