@gsymon

I think we have to be very careful about how this gets messaged. Truth must be told, and it's certainly true that climate change is here and it's gong to get worse before we can reverse it. But this is dangerously close to saying 'there's nothing we can do', or emphasising climate adaption over mitigation - a tendency I think I can already see even in relatively responsible big business.

For the sake of our children, we need to keep emphasising actions to mitigate climate and ecological breakdown even while we adapt to changes already inevitable.

@GeofCox

Not only is it essential to understand that there is no going back, it's also essential to understand that every day of every week, of every year in which we 'carry on as normal' those irreversible consequences are getting worse and worse and worse.

If we stop emissions, now today, i.e. no cars, no planes, no fossil fuels ... then where we are now, is where we stay. The damage has been done. If humanity also disappeared, then the planet may fix itself, but over hundreds of years.
