Courtesy a climate-related account on LI, take a look at this. Just so's ya know, the current extent of our climate crisis and the worse that is to come was entirely a choice that was made. For us, not by us, but it was a choice.

Here's the link to the OG document if you want to check Dunsky's work.

Figure 3 , Page 7, from"CO2 Greenhouse Effect, A Technical Review", published by Exxon in 1982. There is an overlay indicating the 2025 CO2 ppm levels and degrees-above-norm average annual temperature, showing they appear exactly on the curve as predicted 42 years ago. The source document is verified to be available at https://www.worthingtoncaron.com/documents/1982-APRIL-1-1982_“CO2-‘GREENHOUSE’-EFFECT.pdf. The overlay is by P. Dunsky

FYI (for germans)

Die Grafik, oft als "Figure 3" bezeichnet, ist ein reales historisches Dokument. Sie stammt aus einer internen Studie der Exxon Research and Engineering Company.

Quelle als PDF
https://insideclimatenews.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/1982-Exxon-Primer-on-CO2-Greenhouse-Effect.pdf

2023 wurde sie in einer umfassenden Studie im Fachmagazin Science bestätigt. Forscher der Harvard University und des Potsdam-Instituts für Klimafolgenforschung (PIK) haben die internen Exxon-Prognosen statistisch ausgewertet.

@johannab

And the fossil fuel industry still spends millions corrupting Courts, Congress, and Agencies and lobbying to be granted immunity for ecocide.

@johannab

Astonishingly accurate. One would think this should kill all doubt about the validity of climate science, but roughly half the population still thinks is bogus or not human caused.

@johannab also note that we're on the cutting edge of the high estimate.

@RowinSpeez yeah, exactly. Though I think there are now higher estimates in the cone of possibilities, but this is still pretty telling. Exxon deserves its own special circle of hell. I wonder if the names in that document have been tracked down - I know there have been investigations and actions, don't remember the status.
