C'est acté, #Pixelfed annonce faire sécession avec le Fédivers.

@ploum l'avait annoncé, nous y sommes.

Citation du développeur principal:
"Sorry but Pixelfed users don't want to see WordPress/Ghost/WriteFreely posts in feeds just because they have an image attachment.

The purpose of Pixelfed is photo sharing, that is the context, not the caption, the caption can be empty, because it's not the focus.

Let the microblogging platforms handle this."

@faket what about @peertube or @funkwhale or @Castopod ? they all have a different focus on specific media content. do you think they are a problem too? and your image is definitely wrong, because even when they block text posts completely, it still uses ActivityPub and I can still follow @pixelfed accounts from mastodon, like I can follow peertube accounts. I'm not sure, what your goal is here, but IMO it is not supporting the fediverse. @ploum

@kleisli To be honest, I don't think PeerTube users are the same as Masto or Pixelfed. I don't know for Funkwhale or Castopod, but PeerTube is a posting only (or mostly) plateform, the purpose isn't to interact with others. So yes I can follow PeerTube account with my account, but I don't see the case on which a PeerTube account would follow me. This is absolutely not the case for a Pixelfed user, if he want to follow me, he need to see my content, or know that some of my content is not displayed.

My goal here is to not force people to make multiples accounts on the Fedivers.

@faket @kleisli Having multiple accounts is inevitable in the long run as I have explained here : https://videos-libr.es/w/oeGssBch6gRoBrtc5xFdhy No fediverse tool is supposed to do everything.

@srosset @kleisli Well, I've watched the video, and I think I don't agree on the basis of your thinking. You do need multiple "posting" accounts, if you want to publish different contents, but you should need only one "interacting" account.
PeerTube doesn't seems like a "posting only" plateform to me, thus it should allow me to interact with all contents type, even if I can filter it.

@faket @kleisli Yeah as long as you don't want to post videos, create events or JOIN events, you can use your Mastodon account to view all kinds of media indeed. But for me that's only a little part of what a "social network" could be.

@faket @ploum not true, rather, Pixelfed will soon give the options to users on the levels of federated content they want to see.

@dansup @faket @ploum My humble guess, is that sometimes people want to write stuff to their audience and if they can't the basic workaround are walls of text on multiple images. What do you think of that? Won't it better to let creators post texts?

@dansup @ploum How will this be explained to users? Will this be an opt-out feature hidden somewhere or an opt-in feature directly accessible? Because in the case of the first option, this looks bad to me.
